We are Birgit (born 1967) and Klaus (born 1961). We have been traveling together since 2004 and, after many journeys around the world on land, we now find ourselves increasingly drawn to the water. Our golf bags, hiking boots, and folding bikes are always on board Anori, allowing us to stay active wherever we go and to extend our range well beyond the harbor.

Birgit is a biologist, fearless and curious, and has been traveling to all continents since the beginning of her studies—mostly with a backpack. Nature and all living creatures fascinate her, and photography is her way of capturing impressions along the way. Until 2020, sailing played virtually no role in her life; since then, she has been learning intensively and every single day.
Klaus is an electrical engineer with a wide range of interests and an openness to new challenges. He gained his first sailing experience on dinghies and catamarans on Lake Garda, and the idea of undertaking longer sailing voyages was always present. A walk through the harbor of Flensburg in August 2019 provided the decisive impulse to seriously consider traveling on their own boat.

After obtaining the German SBF Inland and Sea licenses in 2020, followed by the SRC radio certificate and the Pyrotechnics certificate, several holiday charters in the Baltic Sea and the Adriatic followed. In addition, we completed safety training courses, skipper training, and “Medicine at Sea” seminars.
At the same time, an opportunity opened up for both of us to step away from our professional careers – and with it the chance to make sailing our lifestyle.
We are both capable of sailing and navigating the boat independently. Travel and route planning is done together.
Onboard responsibilities:
Birgit: provisioning, medical matters, and background information about the destinations
Klaus: technical systems, weather, and repairs

Anori is our first own boat and the starting point for the journeys we share here.
We blog to record our travels and the small as well as big events along the way – for ourselves, but also for anyone who enjoys joining us on the water.
